In the afternoon of April 16, Ms. Tonilyn P. Lim (Tangyi Lin), General Representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in China, and Mr. Ma Jian, Deputy Representative of UNIDO, visited the SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development. Mr. Huang Zhen, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Green Growth Institute, Mr. Hu Jin, Acting Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs, Mr. Geng Yong, Vice Dean of the School of International and Public Affairs and Executive Director of the SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development, and Mr. Zhao Xiaolei, Co-Director of the Institute, accompanied the investigate and survey.
Ms. Lim expressed her gratitude to Shanghai Jiao Tong University for its attention and support, and highly affirmed the important research results achieved by the Institute so far. The establishment of the SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development is an important milestone in the cooperation between the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), and the beginning of forming a close and efficient cooperation mechanism between the two sides. It is hoped that the Institute will actively promote the application of global sustainable innovative technologies, continuously explore and practice future sustainable technologies, and achieve the 2030 sustainable development goals.
In the next step, based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Shanghai Jiao Tong University and UNIDO, the two parties will start comprehensive cooperation in the areas of capacity building for impact-creating investment, industrial application of green economy and innovative technologies and youth training, and actively explore the development strategy of the Institute, industrial technology innovation, industrial transformation and upgrading, so as to contribute to the promotion of sustainable industrial development in China.
During the visit, Ms. Lim and her delegation visited the History Museum of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and learned about the development of Shanghai Jiao Tong University for more than a century and the fruitful achievements of academic and research prosperity through rich relics, photos and other materials.
