On the morning of November 1, the inauguration ceremony of NSFC Basic Science Center (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) and the appointment ceremony of academician Chen Xiaohong was held at the east side of Bao Zhaolong Library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University Xuhui Campus. Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Chen Xiaohong, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, President of Hunan University of Technology and Commerce and Honorary Dean of Business School of Central South University, Zhao Xiaolei, the head of UNIDO ITPO Shanghai and President of SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development, Zhou Cheng, Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Hu Jin, Acting Dean of School of International and Public Affairs of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Geng Yong, Director of SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development, as well as representatives of teachers and students, attended the ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Jiang Wenning, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of International and Public Affairs of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Yang Zhenbin pointed out in his speech that the NSFC Basic Science Center project is one of the highest specification science foundation projects of Scientific Foundation so far, with remarkable strategic leadership, scientific and technological originality and frontier breakthrough, which is an important initiative to implement the innovation-driven development strategy, and the location of the center in Jiaotong University has put forward higher requirements and new challenges for the university to actively serve the major national development strategies. In the future, Shanghai Jiao Tong University will further deepen the cooperation with relevant co-builders, face the major strategic needs of national ecological civilization construction and high-quality economic development, and focus on promoting the deep cross-fertilization of multiple disciplines. Yang Zhenbin expressed his heartfelt thanks to Chen Xiaohong for his generous support and warmly welcomed Prof. Chen to be appointed as a visiting professor of SJTU.

Finally, Chen Xiaohong delivered a speech. She expressed that Shanghai Jiao Tong University has trained and delivered a large number of outstanding talents for national industrialization and science&technology development, and she was deeply honored to be appointed as a visiting professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and thanked the university for its support to the Institute. She expects that through joint efforts, the NSFC Center for Basic Sciences will focus on "strangling" technologies and cultivate original achievements, especially to solve the difficult and painful problems in the field of resources and environment, so as to strive for significant contributions in theory and application.
After the ceremony, Academician Chen exchanged views with the faculty and students of the Center and the Institute.
Introduction to the chief professor of the Institute
Chen Xiaohong, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, expert in management science and engineering management, visiting professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, chief professor of SJTU-UNIDO Joint Institute of Inclusive and Sustainable Industrial Development, president of Hunan Technology and Business University, honorary dean of Central South University Business School, professor, Doctoral supervisor, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Currently, she is a member of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a member of the discipline review group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Head and chief professor of national key discipline "management science and Engineering", the innovation research group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the "Changjiang Scholars innovation team" of the Ministry of education, Vice president of the Chinese society of management science and engineering, Winner of Fudan management outstanding contribution award and Guangzhao Technology Award. In 1999, she received a doctor's degree in engineering from Tokyo University of Technology, won the national fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2001, was the first level and second level cross century academic and technical leader of the national "ten million talent project" in 1999, and was a national excellent teacher.
