ZHOU Yiping joined the United Nations in 1985. He served as Deputy Director of the UN Special Unit for South-South Cooperation, Director of the UN Office for South-South Cooperation and Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for South-South Cooperation. Currently he serves as the President of the International Silk Road Academy of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, the President of the Jingdezhen International Silk Road Academy, the invited consultant of the Shanghai branch of China International Economic Exchange Center, the Chief Adviser of the Shanghai Association of Senior Scientists and Technologists, Chief expert of the "Belt and Road" which is jointly built by China and the United Nations, major national special projects for innovative research, member of the United Nations Global Compact China Network Bureau, senior consultant of the China Chamber of International Cooperation in Private Economy, and Chief Adviser and special envoy of the Director-General of World Women’s Organization.
